Saturday, April 26 and Saturday, May 3 from 1-4pm
Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, “Hmmm, I love my face, but I really wish the rest of me was a cat”? If this sounds like you, today is your lucky day! Ceramic sculptor Jonah Strub is teaching a two-part workshop in which students will learn proper handbuilding techniques for self portraiture, and surface decoration with underglazes to create creatures that are part you, and part animal. Animals can be real, mythological, or hybrids of many kinds of critters – creativity and silliness are strongly encouraged!
This workshop is suitable for all levels but some experience with clay handbuilding will be beneficial. To get the most out of the workshop and to aide the instructor, students are encouraged to arrive with an idea for their animal self portrait, along with basic sketches and/or reference images.
