Raku Vase
This vase was fired through a process called “raku”, in which after glaze is applied, the piece is fired at an extremely high temperature in an outdoor kiln. At peak temperature, the piece is removed and placed in an airtight container full of combustibles. The chemicals released during combustion and the lack of oxygen creates wild and unpredictable glaze reactions and a carbon black clay body wherever unglazed.
6 x 6 x 6.5 in.
This vase is porous on the inside, therefore avoid putting liquid in this vessel.
